Absolutely, but what if I told you that the clarity, color, and quality of those photos rarely turn out as good in printing as they do on your phone? A little secret: iphones, social media, and other media platforms often compress your images which sacrifices the quality and color of already low resolution images.

Okay, I probably lost you a bit in the sauce there. The reality is, the most aesthetic holiday card photos use high resolution photos that aren't from a mobile device. And this scenario doesn't just go for holiday cards.

Some of the most cherished gifts I've ever given have been photos of my family. They aren't iphone photos though. High quality photos printed in a nice frame, a shadow box of a photo with crafting touches, a photo blanket, a picture of my infant daughter and a sign saying "my first father's day" all have been wonderful gifts that my loved ones have adored. Happy tears have been shed! My photography style captures the sweetest moments that make these gifts that much more dynamic.

Many photographers will only focus on outdoor sessions. A well rounded photographer can shoot both indoor and outdoor with the right equipment. While I adore fall with the colors and beautiful weather, an indoor in-home session is so unique. A family huddle on a bed or a couch in the space these moments truly happen is of the most pure thing a photographer can capture.

Indoor in-home sessions also provide so much flexibility for little kids and timing. Depending on your area, you're really limited to outdoor sessions not only for weather but also for daylight. For little ones, indoor sessions mean direct access to outfit changes, bathrooms, and a very important aspect- snacks!

While fall is the most popular season, I see clients use sessions scheduled in all seasons for their holiday cards. There really are no rules! I try to capture my own family session once a year.
